Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Recipe App, the website at recipeapp.io and book.recipeapp.io (collectively, the "Service"), operated by GHAX Inc., a New York corporation ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By signing up, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms in your jurisdiction. The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under that age.

2. Your account

You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate, current information during signup
  • Keeping your password confidential
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Notifying us immediately at support@recipeapp.io if you suspect unauthorized access

You may not share, transfer, or sell your account. One person, one account.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, are inactive for an extended period, or are used in ways that disrupt the Service.

3. The Service

Recipe App is a software-as-a-service product that lets you organize recipes by ingesting them from multiple sources (typed input, pasted text, photos, web URLs including YouTube, and voice dictation), tagging and categorizing them, estimating nutritional macros via AI, and accessing them from any device.

We may add, modify, or remove features at any time. We'll provide reasonable notice for material changes that affect existing functionality.

4. Subscriptions, billing, and refunds

Free tier

Free accounts may save up to 20 recipes. Other features (ingestion modes, search, AI macros) are fully available.

Pro subscription

Pro is a paid subscription, currently $7.00 USD per month, billed in advance, automatically renewing each month until cancelled. Pricing may change with at least 30 days' notice; existing subscriptions will continue at the previous rate through the next billing cycle.

Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. Your payment details are stored by Stripe, not by us. By subscribing, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.

Cancellation

You may cancel at any time from your Account → Manage Subscription page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro access until then. We do not pro-rate refunds for partial months.

Refunds

We issue refunds for duplicate charges, billing errors, and subscriptions cancelled within 7 days of the most recent charge if the account had minimal usage. Email billing@recipeapp.io with your account email and the issue. Refunds are processed via Stripe back to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.

Promotional codes

We may issue coupon codes that grant percentage discounts for a limited duration. Codes are non-transferable, have no cash value, and may be revoked at our discretion.

Failed payments

If a charge fails, Stripe retries automatically over approximately three weeks. During this time your subscription enters a "past due" state. If payment is not collected, your account reverts to the Free tier and your saved recipes remain accessible (subject to the 20-recipe limit on additions).

5. Your content

Your ownership

You retain all rights to the recipes, photos, notes, and other content you add to the Service ("Your Content"). We claim no ownership of Your Content.

License you grant us

To operate the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, display, reproduce, and process Your Content solely as necessary to provide the Service to you. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies retained in routine backups (which are deleted within 30 days of account deletion).

What you must not upload

You agree not to upload:

  • Content you do not own or have permission to use, including copyrighted recipes copied verbatim from cookbooks or paid publications
  • Content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit
  • Content that contains malicious code or attempts to compromise the Service
  • Personal information about other people without their consent
  • Anything that violates Anthropic's, Vercel's, Stripe's, or our other vendors' acceptable-use policies

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms and to suspend accounts of repeat offenders.

Recipes and copyright

Lists of ingredients are generally not copyrightable in the United States, but the descriptive text, headnotes, and instructions in a published recipe often are. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to copy any recipe text you ingest from external sources. The Service is intended for personal use — not for republishing other people's content publicly.

6. AI and automated processing

The Service uses third-party AI models — primarily Anthropic's Claude — to:

  • Parse ingested text, images, web pages, and YouTube transcripts into structured recipe data
  • Estimate per-serving nutritional macros based on your ingredient list

When you trigger an ingestion or macro estimation, the relevant content is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Per Anthropic's commercial terms, customer API inputs are not used to train Anthropic's models. We do not share your account email or other identifying information with these models.

AI outputs are estimates. Macros are not lab-measured. Ingredient extraction is best-effort. You are responsible for verifying any AI-generated content before relying on it for dietary, medical, or allergy-related decisions. We disclaim liability for harm arising from reliance on AI estimates.

7. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • Use the Service to violate any law or third-party right
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
  • Scrape or systematically harvest data from the Service
  • Use bots or scripts to create accounts, generate content, or abuse rate limits
  • Interfere with the operation of the Service or other users' enjoyment of it
  • Resell or sublicense access to the Service

8. Third-party services

The Service relies on these third parties, each of whom has their own terms and privacy practices:

  • Anthropic — AI inference (Claude)
  • Stripe — payments
  • Vercel — hosting and CDN
  • Neon — database hosting
  • Resend — transactional email
  • Cloudflare — DNS
  • Go High Level (HighLevel) — CRM / contact management

We are not responsible for outages, data handling, or terms changes of these third parties beyond what we contractually require.

9. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by emailing support@recipeapp.io with the subject "Delete my account" from the email address on the account.

We may terminate or suspend your account, with or without notice, for:

  • Violation of these Terms
  • Suspected fraud or abuse
  • Extended inactivity (12+ months on a free plan with no logins)
  • Operational reasons (e.g. discontinuation of the Service)

Upon termination, your access ends immediately. Your data will be deleted within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • AI outputs will be accurate or complete
  • Your data will never be lost (we maintain backups but cannot guarantee zero data loss)
  • Recipe ingestion will succeed for every URL, photo, or video — third-party sites and platforms (especially YouTube and Instagram) actively change their structure and may break ingestion temporarily

Nothing in the Service constitutes medical, nutritional, dietary, or allergen advice. Always consult a qualified professional for health-related decisions.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

  • Our total cumulative liability arising from or related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $50.00.
  • In no event will we be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so portions of this section may not apply to you.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GHAX Inc., its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claim, loss, or damage (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from (a) your use of the Service, (b) Your Content, or (c) your violation of these Terms or any third-party right.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or via a notice in the Service at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

15. Miscellaneous

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us.
  • Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest of these Terms remain in effect.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
